Mary Chahalis, Director, Federal Government Programs
Most of my career since graduating from college has been with IBM, first as a systems engineer and then as an account rep (in various forms). During my 18 years at IBM, I spent a lot of time with large commercial customers, primarily in Washington D.C. and in the Carolinas. I managed some outstanding teams during my tenure with IBM – one that handled some of IBM’s largest accounts up and down the East Coast; another that handled a cross section of the Federal Government. Over the last several years, I was able to work directly with the Intelligence Community (IC).
I am very grateful to my IBM career for providing me with the opportunity to start working in the Intel and Federal space. The opportunity to move on to TerraGo, in 2010, gave me with the chance to work with an In-Q-Tel portfolio company in support of the IC. My philosophy since coming on board has been to spend as much “face to face” time with customers as possible, and to create and grow trusted relationships in the Community.
At the start of 2012 we expanded the team in support of the Federal Government space. We have a great group of cleared account managers, as well as technical account managers, located primarily in the DC area; I'm very proud to be part of this team.
On the personal side, moving to TerraGo is a big piece of the “second half of my life.” The first part of my life included the raising of my son, a lot of IBM, and a few years as an 8th grade math teacher. I spend my non-work time practicing yoga (reminds me to keep breathing!), spending time with my good friends and with my family (I’m the oldest of six and have absolutely adorable nephews). I sing (mainly at church but I do enjoy karaoke!); I love to dance but don’t do it often enough, and am currently in search of a cool snorkeling/yoga vacation to put on the calendar (so far have done this just once – I think it’s time to schedule another).
The days continue to fly by for me here at TerraGo – which is a very good sign. I look forward to talking with you soon – and thank you for taking the time to check out our site!
