Online GeoPDF Map Deliverable from USDA-NRCS Enables Easy Sharing of Complex Land Data

This article written by Kent Peña, GIS Coordinator and National SSURGO Coordinator for USDA-NRCS, for the September issue of Geoinformatics magazine describes how the organization was able to produce an online map deliverable that enables farmers, ranchers, agronomists and others working or studying the land to easily see soil properties and nutrient spreading restrictions.

Since the program began NRCS has produced and shared more than 100,000 GeoPDF maps with its customer base – a community that touches the online mapping system more than 3,000 times per month during peak season – with increased efficiency and productivity in disseminating vital land management information.
