Geospatial Collaboration

Over the past few years, GIS professionals and non-GIS experts alike have come to expect the availability and portability of geospatial assets, partly due to the proliferation of geo-referenced PDF files, called GeoPDFs, from TerraGo.  However, many GIS organizations are only solving half of the problem - they are publishing assets without the expectation that field personnel can add valuable, on-the-ground intelligence to their GIS databases. With TerraGo's suite of geospatial collaboration solutions, true out-and-back publishing and sharing of information in a geospatial context is possible.

How it Works

GIS leaders of this new decade need to think about the publication process as the beginning of a new workflow that enables true geospatial collaboration between field resources and operations commanders. If published with the end result in mind, a more intelligence, efficient and productive relationship between users and authors will develop. Once users are equipped with the right tools that fit their skill set and knowledge level, a whole new world of resources can be incorporated into your geospatial initiatives. And as GIS becomes a bigger part of mainstream business decision making, the broader the circle, the better.

TerraGo solutions work together as a suite of software that enables organizations to publish GeoPDF files, compose unique geospatial applications that include business-specific data and context, and collaborate on that information via the web, desktop or handheld mobile device.

Equipped with TerraGo Mobile and GeoPDF files of the relevant data, field personnel can collect spatially aware data that is packaged into an XML-based payload called the TerraGo Collaboration Payload. This information can be easily sent to virtually any system in the enterprise, including the GIS system of record.  System experts can then analyze and consume the data for better decision making, faster response times and greater productivity of field operations.
