Remote Asset Management

For organizations responsible for managing and maintaining assets scattered across large geographic areas, accurate and efficient data collection can be a big challenge. Whether it is 2,000 utility poles or a 2,000 mile pipeline, highway or railway, TerraGo solutions enable you to equip your mobile field personnel with easy to use, portable, interactive maps/images that make data collection and sharing simple and accurate. Unlike most traditional solutions that require an understanding of complex system interfaces, TerraGo leverages the common Adobe Reader technology to give field personnel the power to track their location and make spatially aware mark-ups, such as photos, videos, forms and comments, directly on the map. Those markups along with the GeoPDF can be easily roundtripped to the operations team for easy integration into virtually any system, including remote assetment management software or GIS database.

How it Works

GeoPDF files are created with TerraGo Pubisher and pushed out to mobile field workers for use on their laptops or mobile handheld devices. The devices have been preloaded with:
- TerraGo Mobile software for handhelds or TerraGo Toolbar for laptops
- a PDF form(s) to guide data collection actions, and
- GeoPDF files of the area to be inspected.

As field personnel begin their work for the day, they are are able to leverage the coordinates on the GeoPDF or those provided by the device to track their location. As the field worker goes to the first point of collection after easily zooming in/out and panning to the feature point located on the GeoPDF map, he/she performs the necessary action and places a GeoMark (the point to which all of data will be associated). Next, the user opens the PDF form and selects the feature type from the drop down menu. If needed, the user may take a photo for confirmation and clarification, as well place a text note if required. These photos are geotagged to the location of the feature. The user then saves the data and moves on to the next point of collection. These simple actions are done throughout the course of the day. The user connects with the base station to submit his/her data by downloading the collaboration payload to the main system.
