This is TerraGo’s first time at Smart Cities Connect and it’s off to a rockin’ start. Last night, we were presented with two Smart 50 Awards last night at the Smart Cities Gala. More correctly, we won two awards jointly with two different customers doing great work with vastly different smart city applications.
With Ameresco, we won an award for the Richmond Hill streetlight project. For our part, we supplied a mobile field application that cut commissioning times of networked lights from 2 days to 2 minutes. Ameresco managed the entire project, converting over 10,000 lights that will save the city nearly $1 million and 600 tons of CO2 each year. Ameresco Canada’s Project Coordinator Ben Chadbourne joined us to accept the award. (Ben was by far the most fashionable in our contingent.)
With Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, we won an award for homeless outreach programs. We built a custom app that enables SCSD personnel to gather information on homeless citizens and then share that information with 88 different agencies. What a great program to make a difference for the community. Lt Steve Dutra and Sgt Tom Bland joined us to accept the award, and shared stories about the program and ways to do more with the data, for example to match our homeless veterans with services and treatments they need, and we certainly owe them.
Thanks to Ben, Steve and Tom for letting us be a part of their projects, and for being good guys to spend an evening with plotting the future of smart cities… and congratulations to both organizations.
